A deposit (pre-payment) is required for all reservations year round.

Reservations at our facility are limited in most of our lodging styles and we become full very quickly during peak seasons of the year. Many times clients forget that when our facility reaches capacity, we are forced to refuse reservations. When someone with a current reservation cancels, does not show (or adjusts in some cases) last-minute, we often cannot refill the space.

  • What vaccinations are required for my pet to stay with you?

Dogs are required to be current on their distemper (DHPP), rabies and bordatella vaccination (canine cough) to lodge with us. The bordatella vaccination (oral form) can be given with us but is highly recommended to have been administered at least 1 week prior to their stay. The distemper and rabies vaccination must be administered by a veterinarian and thus MUST be done prior to lodging.

Cats are required to be current on their distemper (FVRCP) and rabies vaccinations. Both of these vaccination MUST be administered by a veterinarian prior to lodging.

  • What is Canine Cough?

Canine Cough is a highly contagious respiratory infection in dogs that is similar to the human cold. This virus causes inflammation in the lining of the upper airway and symptoms include a dry spastic cough, runny nose or eyes, and in some cases a slight temperature. These symptoms can last from a few days to a few weeks. Canine Cough is passed around in grooming shops, kennels, vet offices, etc., basically anywhere dogs come into contact with each other.

This virus is air borne and thus it is very easily spreak. It has to be brought into the Manor by someone's dog, in the past. This virus takes between five to ten days to incubate, so sometimes the pet has gone home before the symptoms begin to manifest.

By insisting that every dog have the Bordetella vaccination, we are doing what we can to help keep the virus away from our pet resort and spa. The vaccination is only 70% effective, however, as there are many strains of "Kennel Cough." Although we clean our facilities throughly each day with products designed to eliminate this virus, we regret that we cannot 100% guarantee that your pet will not contract "Kennel Cough".

  • How often does my dog need to be vaccinated for Canine Cough?

We highly recommend that this vaccination be given to your pet before he or she arrives at the Manor as it takes approximately 3 days to take full effect. This is especially important for puppies and pets that have never had the vaccination.

We require that the vaccination be boostered at least every year.  If you pet has a lower immune system, more often may be recommended by your veterinarian.

  • What is the Canine Influenza Virus?

Canine influenza virus (CIV) is a virus that causes a respiratory infection in dogs that is often refereed to as canine influenza. CIV is a relatively new virus, so almost all dogs are susceptible to infection when they are newly exposed because they have not built up a natural immunity.

Most dogs that develop CIV infection have a mild illness, but some dogs get very sick and require treatment. Short-muzzled dogs are especially susceptible to the virus. For more information about canine influenza, check out this article from the CDC that details the key facts, symptoms, treatments and more.

  • Does my dog need to be vaccinated against CIV?

For the well-being of pets lodging with us, we recommend the vaccination but it is not required.  Please discuss with your veterinarian if they recommend that your dog receive this vaccination.
The vaccination is given in a two part series two weeks apart and then boostered annually. Please see your veterinarian for this vaccination, as we do not administer the vaccine while lodging.

  • Do I need to bring my pets food for lodging stays?

Yes, this is required.  Please bring your pets usual food from home.  This will help prevent an upset stomach due to food changes or allergy issues.  For dogs we prefer that you do not bring a 40 lb. bag of food for a 2 day stay. Please bag each pets meal individually so we know that your pet is being fed properly (if dry food). Please do not label each bag with a specific day unless you have something special in the baggie. Labeling with AM or PM if the baggies have different amounts in them is appreciated. We are happy to feed dry kibble, raw diets, dehydrated diet, refridgerated diets, canned food, etc, etc.  We do have a full size fridge, bank freezer and microwave if needed.  Please keep in mind that if you are scheduled to pick up your pet during our afternoon hours, we will not feed your pet to help reduce the risk of stomach problems from overexcitement or from the car ride home. Pets are fed up to twice daily, morning and afternoon. Additional meals are $2 per feeding. If you forget to bring food, dogs will be fed Iams Minichunks dry food and cats will be fed Iams Original dry cat food at a cost of $1 per cup.

  • What do you do if my dogs can not be fed in the same area?

    Feeding & Multiple Pets:

    Studio Suites:

If your pets can not be fed together, please bring a crate that will stay in their suite that one of the pets can be put into during feeding times. If you do not have a crate, they can not lodge in the same suite.

Junior Suites, Congress Bark Suites & Luxury Suites:

If your pets can not be fed together, please keep in mind that one of the pets will be locked on their outside patio until they have finished their meals, even in the winter months. If you do not want this to occur, please bring a crate that will stay in their suite that one of the pets can be put into during feeding times.

We can not split pets up for feeding times using other suites or having staff stand in the suite.

  • What should I bring with my pet?

Other than food, discussed in the questions above, you do not need to bring anything for your pets stay, but you are more than welcome to bring some things from home to make their stay more comfortable. All dog suites are supplied this a raised cot (Kuranda Bed).  Many clients will bring a dog bed or blanket, toys and treats. Please limit the size of blankets to full size (so they can be washed if needed). Also it is appreciated if bringing a dog bed that the inside of the bed be removed, placed in a garbage bag and placed back in the cover. If your pet has an "accident", we can wash the cover and replace the garbage bag. Many times we can not wash the interior if it is too big, the bean bag type, egg crate type or stuffing without a lining. Please do not bring dog bowls unless your pet will not eat from any other bowl, uses a slow feeder bowl or has an allergy to metal bowls. We supply non-tip metal bowls for food and water.  Many times your pet's bowls will be washed and then forgotten at pick up. Do not bring ceramic or glass bowls for your pets as they can easily break.

  • What forms of payment do you accept? Do I pay at drop off or pick up?

WE ACCEPT CASH, CHECKS (LOCAL BANKS ONLY), VISA, MASTERCARD, DISCOVER, AMERICAN EXPRESS AND DEBIT CARDS.

In most cases, clients will pay at pick up. However for long term stays, payment is required at the time of drop off.

  • Do you offer any long term stay discounts?

Yes, however payment is required at the time of drop off and the discounts are as follows:

14 day to 28 day stay with payment in advance -- receive free activities equal in value to 15% of your stay

29 day or longer stay with payment in advance (maximum 45 days)-- receive free activities equal in value to 20% of your stay

This discount policy is implemented in order to guarantee that pets staying with us for long periods receive one on one individual attention with one of our staff members on a regular basis.

  • Do you offer pet grooming?

We offer full grooming services, i.e. bath, nails, blow dry and hair cut's Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays with Chloe and Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturday's with Nikki, and Tuesday's, Thursday's, Friday's and Sunday's with Bill. Appointments are required.

  • Can I give my pet water right away after pick up?

Please do not give your pet a lot of water or food when they arrive home. Your pet will be excited and may appear very thirsty. Milton Manor always provides your pet with water. Allow your pet to settle at home for a while before giving him/her any food or water. Ice cubes are a perfect compromise. If you give your pet a lot of water and food, you are running the chance of diarrhea and vomitting due to nerves and excitement.

  • What to expect after lodging?

We realize that you are going to be very anxious to reunite with your pet after your time away. We find that it is easier to settle your bill first before bringing your pet out to you. Most pets are very excited and it makes it very difficult to handle your paper work while they want your attention.

If you are going to pick up your pet before the original pick up date, be sure to call us ASAP so that we can bathe or groom them if you requested this service.

If your departure date is going to be a few days later, please let us know, as in most cases it isn't usually a problem, but we like to know this so we can adjust our reserved spacing and do any bathing at the appropriate time.

If someone else is to pick up your pet for you, please leave us his or her name (for security) and phone number. The bill must be paid at the time of departure. You may pay ahead, leave your credit card number on our file, leave a check with us or your friend, however you wish, but we do not release a pet without payment. (If you are having some personal problems and there are any persons you do not wish us to release your pet to, please make sure we are aware of this).
